چکیده
Abstract Background Hearing is commonly impaired in Behçet’s disease (BD). Also, vestibular abnormalities as well cochlear function affection have been found. The inflammatory process which leads to BD may be the cause of frequency audiometry those patients. aim this study assess hearing and vestibulo-colic reflex Behçet patients using convential pure-tone (cPTA), high-frequency (HFA), cervical evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP). Results This included 25 with (group I), whose age ranged from 21 45 years, a mean 34.24 ± 7.07 years. control group II) comprised 20 normal adults ages are between 30.8 8.02 measured cVEMP parameters include peak latency P13 N23 were statistically significantly different suffering groups. All had sensorineural loss (SNHL) starting 4 up 12.5 kHz. thresholds higher diseased group. Conclusion testing can used for evaluation occurrence especially regions common finding BD, HFA valuable tool early exploration BD.

Cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in multiple sclerosis participants
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disease that affects brain and spinal cord. The infratentorial region contains the cerebellum and brainstem. Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) are short-latency myogenic responses. Cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) is a manifestation of vestibulocolic reflex and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic pote...

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune systemic disease. Most common autoimmune diseases are multisystem disorders that may also present with otological manifestations, and autoimmune inner ear disease accompanied by vestibular dysfunction. This study aimed to compare the vestibular function between RA patients and normal subjects using cervical vestibular evoked myogenic...
متن کاملPotential application of ocular and cervical vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials in Meniere's disease: a review.
By stimulating the ear with air-conducted sound or bone-conducted vibration stimuli, vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) can be recorded on the contracted neck muscles, termed cervical VEMP (cVEMP), and on the extraocular muscles, termed ocular VEMP (oVEMP). These two electrophysiological tests expand the test battery for clinicians to explore the dynamic otolithic function, adding a po...
متن کاملCombined ocular and cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential in individuals with vestibular hyporeflexia and in patients with Ménière's disease.
INTRODUCTION The vestibular evoked myogenic potential is a potential of mean latency that measures the muscle response to auditory stimulation. This potential can be generated from the contraction of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and also from the contraction of extraocular muscles in response to high-intensity sounds. This study presents a combined or simultaneous technique of cervical and oc...
